Cash says the darndest things. I laugh! He is funny. But of course it happens so often I can barely remember to tell you. I find I forget what he said even though I swear I will remember. Daddy was out of town this week so it was just Cash & I. On Sunday - the day dad left- it started out great but then it evolved to a crazy disobey mom and mom be cranky fest. He ran out into the parking lot when I asked him to hold my hand. He was just being all over the place. I always have to remind myself - he is only almost 4. I told him - that is it, we are getting a jar with some rocks. And if you obey, you get rocks, if you disobey, I will take rocks away. And when the jar is full you get a reward. This happened to work because just that morning at Toys R Us we got an Optimus Prime suit (costume) he wanted it opened and I told him NO, not until he fills up his rock jar. So now we have a goal.
After purchasing the rocks, on the drive home I looked in my rear view mirror and Cash was awfully quiet and looking out the window. I asked him what he was thinking about. He said, about running in the parking lot. He didn't verbalize much more, though I probed. But I thought it was kind of cool that he was actually contemplating his actions. At least that is what I perceived was happening.
Regardless, the rock jar has been wonderful all week. And at night he wants a story so I tell him a story about a boy who has a rock jar and when he fills it up he gets a reward. And if he is disobedient he gets rock taken away. I tell him all scenario's as apart of the store. But I love watching his wide eyed smile on his face when at the end of the story Smash (the little boy's name) get's his Optimus Prime costume.
